 You walk home, throwing your keys on the table after a long day. Outside the sun is setting and casts a red-tinged gold glow on the ground outside. Shadows lengthen as the world starts to slow down and go to sleep. You, yourself are tired too, though something's keeping you awake. Bothered, you amble into your living room and settle down in your favorite spot. Grabbing the remote you sleepily flick through the seemingly endless channels that come with cable. Just as your eyes flutter closed, the sun casts a blood-red stain across the earth outside. The remote slides out of your hand, dropping onto the floor with a light thud. That jerks you awake for a moment, just in time to see smiling faces flick across the screen. Interested, you turn the volume up. A newscasters voice surrounds you.
"... unexplained disappearances and murders that lead nowhere..."
As you look closer at the screen you notice something about the young faces flashing across the screen. A sort of feral look in each of their eyes. You recognize that look as one that you have too. The eyes of a Supernatural. Jerking back you shake your head and look again, there are humans in the mix too- almost as many. You wonder what this was about.
"... scientists and doctors have been called in to investigate and they too are stumped with what could have caused it..."
Becoming instantly aware of the growing dark outside, you turn on as many lights as you can. Something about the night that used to seem safe, no longer does. Trying to settle back into your spot, the newscasters next words make you freeze.
"... astonishing discoveries have been found with the bodies. Doctors say that the DNA makeup of some of the victims doesn't match one of a human..."
Your world seems to stop. Everything feels far away and faded out. The race that you belong to are being broadcasted across the world. Your mouth is dry. Shocked, your mind flicks through sentences of other people- people that you've never met.
'Then what are they? Why are they chasing me?...' 'They're recruited to murder you and me and about half the world's population along with us....' 'It will make you more human....' 'We have worse things to think about....' 'How did you get out?....' 'I think your dad's going to be waiting a long time...' 'Accept it and your life will change...' 'I might not be good at much but I can fix people...' 'Oh, and now you're my partner in crime?' 'Don't tell anyone what you saw today got it?'
The words get faster, the voices mix until it's a chorus of sayings in your head. Suddenly everything quiets and you are left with only one thing to say.
"Looks like someone chose wrong."
'Welcome to what I like to call Hell.'
