DISLIKES: The lake and other large bodies of water, bugs, Her step mother, her step brother, camp
PERSONALITY: Thalia is the perfect example of a spoiled L.A girl. She’s used to having it her way or no way and that is how she lives. There are few in her life who can overrule her. She has to be up on every fad and every new style shift. She’s a trend setter, at least in her own mind. Often times she can be very ill tempered. Underneath that is a rarer side of Thalia. It’s a side that kind of wishes she didn’t have to shop nearly every day. It was the same part that wanted more than friends who were just there to keep up appearances. Still she’s too used to her way of life to function outside of it. However a chance for that change is coming up, as she’s being taken right out of her element.
FAMILY: Jacob Owens- Father
Calliope Hetch – Mother
Melinda Owens – Step mother
Theodore ‘Theo’ Owens- Step brother
Martin Owens - Grandfather
HISTORY:
Thalia was the result of the failed marriage between Jacob Owens and Calliope Hetch. They were happy at first but scheduling and distance took a toll on the relationship between the perpetual student and the young businessman. Even Thalia’s birth could not stop her mother’s traveling and her father’s constant meetings. As a result there was a divorce and Thalia went to her father. He worked constantly at the incredibly successful corporation his father had started, and when he wasn’t working he was at social functions or out on dates. Thalia was given almost anything she wanted, but she rarely saw her father.
When she was seven he re-married. Melinda was about ten years his junior and she brought her own four year old son into the marriage. So Thalia gained a step mother and a step brother. Jacob was thrilled to finally have a son, even if it wasn’t his biologically. All attention generally turned to Theo, at the urging of Melinda. It was a less than ideal situation for the forgotten Thalia. Her step mother was not nearly so thrilled to gain a daughter. As a result Thalia was often separated from the family and spent most of her time with her grandparents or at the dance studio she took classes at in LA. Her mother had basically just faded out of her life, still too busy in academia to worry about anything like a child.
As time went on Thalia started to fall in with the wrong group in a way. She started in with the young Hollywood crowd a few years ago when she turned sixteen. By this point she was completely unmanageable, so instead of trying her father simply spoiled her in an attempt to cool her often flaring temper. Her grandfather and a passion for dance were the only things that kept Thalia from getting into the drugs and drinking that her peers participated in. However when she turned nineteen and nothing seemed to change her father started to show some concern. Crashing the Mercedes was the last straw and he sent her off to be a counselor at Camp Rock. While she is an incredibly talented dancer with a lot to share and teach she is far too stubborn to enjoy herself, and her spoiled attitude is often a real put off.

ROLEPLAYING EXAMPLE:
Right now Thalia hated everything. She hated her father, she hated this camp, she hated that she had no choice in this matter at all. Her father had told her to call or to email him if she had any problems. This whole situation was a problem, but she was not going to give him the satisfaction of complaining to him. That was just what he wanted, or at least she had convinced herself of that. He was just waiting for her to call and say that she would be good and that she wasn’t going to rebel anymore. He probably wanted an apology too. Well Thalia sure had a philosophy about that, over her dead body. She wondered what her mother would think if she knew about this. Of course she had no reference point for her mother’s opinions except the articles she read that her mother periodically published. She was fairly sure that a woman who knew everything about Mayan temples didn’t care very much about summer camps. Thalia didn’t even care about that stuff. She would kill to be in the Hamptons right now, maybe stretched out tanning or out shopping. Why oh why had life stuck her at this backwoods place disguised as a home for the arts?
As Thalia strolled along the path she contemplated the option of calling her grandfather for a quick way out, some form of rescue. Surely he’d come get her, but he had more to worry about. After all he was still running part of the business and she had enough respect for him not to interrupt him. He was the one family member that she really cared about. He seemed to understand that sometimes she required more than a credit card. She scowled at the thought of it, she was just in a rotten mood and that did not seem like it was going to change. She kicked a rock that was in front of her on the path and let out a frustrated sigh. Then she took in a deep breath, smelling the lake before she saw it. That was just perfect, a stinking lake. Thalia disliked lakes, it wasn’t like she could swim. Was her father trying to kill her? Who sent someone to be a camp counselor when they could not swim. He’d be sorry when she drowned. Then again he’d still have Theo right? She could see the glint of sunlight off of the water through the trees and drew closer. Even though it stank and it was deadly it was still pretty, then she saw something that was even prettier.
Thalia stared, she couldn’t help it, but she tried to be discreet about it. Still how discreet could one be when Adonis just climbed out of the lake? Dear lord, he was glistening. No, no don’t think that way, she was scolding herself now. She liked the look of him, a lot. That was when Thalia decided that she wanted him, and she got what she wanted. She was Thalia Owens, no one told her no, why would they want to? She tossed back her hair and strolled casually out onto the dock. ”Hey,” she said, her voice casual and her tone forcibly unimpressed.
