Alex dragged himself across the lake, his Ipod ear phones blasting Panic! at the Disco's 'new perspective.' as he walked his guitar hung by the strap around he shoulder and he bobbed his head to the music bored out of his mind. this had to be one of the most frustrating summers of his life. he needed more than anything something to take his mind off of his troubles and if it wasn't the middle of the afternoon he would have snuck off to his club in town, the after life, and gotten a drink, but he had curtain rules about drinking, hooking up, and being the one and only Alex Parker. he'd lives in the town of rockdale since he was born and sure he'd left for a while, boarding school when his mother couldn't control him anymore, which of course he thought was funny, and had manged to get kicked out easily. Of course after that he caused less trouble, but still basically ran the town. a self satisfied smirk settled over his lips as he finally reached a spot underneath a tree by the lake. Alex removed his guitar from his shoulder and set it down on the grass before sliding down the wood of the tree and making himself comfortable. with a lazy smirk he picked up his guitar and strummed it lightly trying to think of something to play. It was odd not knowing what was going to happen when he picked up a guitar, but he liked it, his sound was his own. he wrote about how he felt, and put his heart into everything he wrote and that was one thing he appreciated about just being himself, his music was the essence of Alex Parker. He strummed quietly for a while, before picking it up an old song he really liked coming to his mind. A few days earlier he had helped his friend Katherine, one of the triplets figure out how to play it on the guitar and it took him a while to remember the first note as he played. You sheltered me from harm Kept me warm, kept me warm You gave my life to me Set me free, set me free The finest years I ever knew Were all the years I had with you And...
I would give anything I own Give up my life, my heart, my home I would give ev'rything I own Just to have you back again... He sung softly the smirk falling into a smile as he did so that song was a classic one originally made by Bread, but there had only been a few remakes after that and it silently died away in solitude, but his mother used to sing it too him when he was a kid.

Caitlyn made her way from her cabin lazily. Today was just one of those days when you really couldn't be bothered to do anything at all. She just wanted to go and lie down under a tree and mix tracks like she always did when she was feeling sluggish. She brushed her curls out of her face, they really had been getting long and she put it in the back of her mind to remember to get them cut. Lost in thought, she meandered her way down to the lake, lost in thoughts.
Why didn't her parents really totally love her. Why had they even bothered to have her if they were just going to treat her like dirt? It killed her that she wasn't wanted in her own home because she wasn't the perfect daughter her parents had imagined and she just kept trying, trying to get them to be proud of her, but they wouldn't be proud of her until she caved and became the perfect young lady they wanted. Someone obedient who just went along with whatever it was her parents wanted her to do, but that just wasn't in her nature. She couldn't do that ever.
She was interrupted from her thoughts as she nearly stepped on a guy sitting beneath a tree playing a song she knew. She raised an eyebrow at him, he looked like the try too hard to look like a musician type, but his vocals and guitar skills weren't half bad. "The original was better, but you weren't half bad." She said, pulling her bulky headphones down to around her neck. She had seen him around the camp, but never bothered to talk to him. Why? He didn't seem like someone she wanted to bother with. He was a womanizer and she couldn't stand people like that most of the time. They got on their nerves how they could just treat girls like they were pieces of meat, like they weren't anything. Girls were equal to guys.

Alex continued to strum on his guitar trying to get the right notes and managing to o so. It was one of the first songs he learned how to play when he learned to play the guitar and he loved it. He wouldn't admit it to anyone, but he loved it that was for sure. Alex was trying to figure out a way to pick up the tempo of the song without it sounding too pop fetish like, but it had proven to be a challenge in itself. He ran a hand along the cords as her tweaked them just a bit picking up the tempo when it cam to the second verse, but it still wasn't right. He liked the way the song sounded acoustically and when David Gates sang it in 1972, hell it even hit the top 100 chart list at number five. The song was legend and Alex wanted nothing more than to do justice to it and give it the credit it deserved. The original was better, but you weren't half bad. Alex herd the annoying voice of a girl interrupting his quiet working time and resisted the immediate urge to yell at her for disturbing him as he accidentally struck a few wrong cords nearly breaking his guitar strings. it was a habit of his to react in such a way when he was working on his expertise, such as the guitar. He sighed in frustration and looked up at the girl in annoyance for a moment. Now was not the time to yell at someone especially someone he hadn't bothered to get to know. He wasn't a complete dick, just a mild one. " Look I don't know you, I didn't ask for your opinion, but thanks I guess." He said a bit grudgingly as he looked up at the girl examining her for a moment. She looked to young for him to screw with, he didn't think he had the energy to do so anyway, but he didn't think she'd take his bull anyway so he decided to be straight with her. " names Alexander Parker, your that Caitlyn chick right? Mind helping me with something?" He asked raising an eyebrow at her.

"I only help people who don't call me 'that Caitlyn chick.' I prefer just Caitlyn thanks." She said giving him a crooked grin before sitting next to him. "But yes, I'd be interested in helping you. What is it that you need my expertise in?" She raised an eyebrow back at him, her ever present smile on her lips.
She set her lap top bag down on the ground next to her carefully, making sure it wouldn't get wet or that no harm would come to her precious computer. The thing was quite literally her life and she rarely went anywhere without it. Plus, what good was a music producer without her computer.
She couldn't help but wonder what this Alex kid wanted. He hadn't rubbed her the right way at first, but she really had nothing to do so she may as well give him a chance. See if he could redeem himself. She brushed her coppery curls out her eyes, trying not to get annoyed like she always did with her hair. She wanted to chop all of it off constantly, but her mother just might kill her if she did and she wanted to stay in her parents' good graces as much as possible otherwise she would wind up stuck at home with a gazillion and two tutors teaching her everything and then some. She really, really didn't want that to happen. Caitlyn much preferred to be free to make her own decisions and boarding school somewhat did that for her what with how much her parents were paying for her to be there and all.

Alex gave Caitlyn a side glance at her words and rolled his eyes at her. He wasn’t one to appreciate people talking back to him in such a way, but he let it go deciding to just continue on with whatever he was doing. He noodle on the guitar for a moment still trying to figure out the pace of the chorus. He didn’t want to make it to over played to where it would be ruined and annoying. From the corner of his eyes he saw the girl set her things down and sit next to him against the tree. He sat back and adjusted himself for a moment before beginning to strum once more for a moment ignoring the girls presence, not to be rude, but out of habit.
Alex rolled his eyes at the girl and shook his head, probably coming off as a jerk, but he didn’t really care about that right now. Not like he ever cared to begin with. He considered just telling her to do him a favor and leave so he could get back to doing whatever it had been that he was doing, but seeing as he couldn’t focus anyway and actually did need help he stopped himself from doing so. He kept on strumming the guitar for a moment as he lost himself in his thoughts for just a moment. He had way to many things to think about at the moment, that he wasn’t really in the mood to think about doing any of them so he came to the lake as a distraction, might as well distract himself.
“Ok fine, whatever.” He finally said and looked over at her for a second. “I need this to be different from the original, but not so far that it becomes commercialized bull, that will only proceed to disgrace Bread, I’ve met David Gates, I’d hate to ruin a good thing you know? Got any advice?” He asked her not really expecting a decent answer. He had problems really getting to listen to other peoples opinions and taking it well so he already didn’t expect her to be of much help for him, but she was the only one there at the moment. He ran a hand through his brown hair for a moment and thought to himself before rolling his eyes. This was pointless for all he knew. A sigh escaped Alex’s lips as he ran a hand over his guitar. He loved the item more than anything else that he owned so far.
